The main target of this one day trip was to see the Dooli Ella which is situated near to the Neluwa town. There is a very beautiful trail though the Sinharaja Forest reserve up to Deniyaya from Dooli ella through the Lankagama and Pitadeniya. Travelling along the A17 high way between Deniyaya and Rakwana was a very interesting one.
We two started our one day journey at 6.00 am from our home town Horana. Even though these days are somewhat rainy for the south west region of the country we didn’t experienced any rainfall along our total journey.
We have come to the pelawatte town after passing the Matugama,Horawala and Meegahatenna. The road from Pelawatte to Neluwa is being under constructing.Dooli ella name board is there just before the Gin Ganga bridge near to the neluwa town. We have got the left turn there. There is 7 km distance to the water fall. There is a three way junction just before the Dooli Ella. Left turn from that junction is to Dooli Ella and the right turn is to Lankagama,Pitadeniya and finally Deniyaya.
Path to the waterfall is properly constructed by the local government authority of the area.

After staying some time at the waterfall we have turned back and came to the tree way junction again. We took the right turn from the junction to Lankagama. The road is recently concreted up to the Gin Ganga bridge near the Pitadeniya Sinharaja conservation centre.
A beautiful waterfall can be seen near to the road. That is the ‘Brahmana Ella’.

After some distance Sinharaja entrance office is met. This place would be the entrance point if you come from the Deniyaya side

At 2.00 pm we have reached the Deniyaya. Then we have travelled along the A17 high way from Deniyaya to Madampe
The portion between Deniyaya and Rakwana of A17 high way is a very scenic road in Sri Lanka. It is laid through the Bulutota pass. (Like Ella pass). There are 10 hair pin bends in this road. It is absolutely like 18 hair pin beds of A26 before its’ recent widening. If you want to experience the earlier nature of 18 hair pin bends of A26 road; you just go to A17.I think both are the same in arrangement except the numbers.
